study

so it's been a year since i graduated from university and i thot i was home-free from any kind of studying and mugging ever again..

and it turns out that now, one year on, i'm studying on a week night for my Java programming certification exam. desperately trying to cover 300+ pages of text over the remainder of the week.

gawd, i hate studying. i dunno how i ever managed to endure 20 years of it. i keep hearing people asking me if i've ever thought of furthering my studies, since it's like almost everyone in the office is doing his masters. no way jose - you have got to be kidding me!

i think i covered like 20 pages of text so far today. yup.. i think that's quite enough for one night. some things you just gotta start slow, and not over-strain yourself.. haha

rant

oh man.. this has got to be absolutely the worst week i have at work so far. have never felt so bloody pissed off in a long time. warning: this is going to a looonng rant.

like i was saying in an earlier post: first anniversary of starting work comes around..

security pass expires. this means no access to any doors. no access to the side gate. not even access to the main gate. woo.. so the million dollar question then is: how long does it take to reset/extend the pass? the answer? nobody knows.. cos it's never been done yet! no lah.. i kid.. but apparently they need everybody and their mother and father to approve one lousy application before someone gets off his lazy ass, walk over to some fancy super ultra high tech computer to grant my pass access. 4 working days and counting.. tick tock tick tock tick tock

internet account expires. wonderful. just wonderful. it's lucky that the powers that be don't administer our development computer's login account too. or else there's really no point in going to work. if this was a private company and they were dealing with paying customers, they would kenna dunno how many complaint letters liao. is it really too much to ask for them to come up with a program that generates a list of accounts that expires in the coming month and then send out an email informing the person in charge? no, no, no.. wait just a minute.. wat am i saying?! that would mean making our lives EASY.. and why the hell would they wanna go do something like that?

got assigned a shitty seat. rather than the singaporean way of first come first serve, got kenna played like the pawn of a political chess game between the managers. so first they tear down my Berlin wall, then they drive me out of my nice seat in the lab, force me downstairs and make a freaking guard dog to look after the bloody door. fantastic. i'm gonna have to work on pissing sideways to mark my territory and practicing my bark to alert the others in the room that someone has just entered the lab. grrr... woof! woof! growl...

life as a 2nd class citizen in this organisation.. at first i thought i wouldn't mind. it comes with the territory, i keep telling myself. i can bear with it. but after all this shit? one day, that proverbial straw might just break this camel's back. it's not that i have anything against the people there or the work. it's just.. but why does their administration and their damn policy towards outsourced staff have to suck so bad? while scholars doing their internships for a few short months get all the royal treatment? wooo.. nice new shiny pass that can go anywhere in the building while we have to wait for months before getting our passes and another god knows how many days before we gain access to the side gate and all that shit. someone should really point out to them that the golden rule in security is to "DENY by default", not "GRANT by default"!

and all of these just had to happen together at a time when i'm battling the flu. one of those times when you know you are not 100% well, but you're not that sick enough to go see a doc. you tell yourself to wait until tomorrow to see if it gets any worse, but it doesn't. rather it just remains that way for a few days. crappy feeling sia.

damn it, i really hate being so whiny and bitchy. but like i said, i really haven't felt this pissed off in ages. since young, i've always had a quick temper and i think i've done well over the years to control it. but when that dam breaks, all hell breaks loose. if you think i sound bad now, just know that i've already been simmering for the past 2 days now.

oh well.. a brand new week. things can't possibly get any worse rite? oh wait.. i shouldn't say such things. who knows wat the Big Guy Upstairs is thinking of throwing at me next.
